Celebrity Sighting!

Morning arrived uneventful in Amarillo.  We had a delicious breakfast at the Big Texan Steak Ranch.  They know how to make an omelette, let me tell you!  We were heading back to the room to pack up and check out when who should we come upon but TV's line dancing superstar Danny Fenton!  He posed in our car and then took the time to horse around for the camera.

 

 

 "How's the weather up there?"

 

After breakfast there's always room for more food so we stopped in at the Golden Light Café where we both had the Flagstaff Pie.  Basically a Frito Pie but HUGE!  HUGE I tell you!  You can't tell from the picture but it's HUGE.  There is a whole bag of Fritos under that chili and cheese.  That glass is one of those Big Gulp sized ones.  Crazy.

 

 After lunch it was time to head out to Tucumcari.  We couldn't leave Amarillo though without a visit to the Cadillac Ranch.  It's more than it seems and is completely cool.  Most of the cars were done up in shades of green at the moment.  Very odd to walk out to the middle of a field to find this.  Amazing.

We crossed the border in to New Mexico and in a short time we reached our destination.  The Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari!  The owners of the motel thought that Fred's car was so cool they asked him to park it in front of the motel for the night.  Lots of people came out and took pictures.  Really neat time.  The owners of the motel are Kevin and Nancy Mueller and are great hosts.  The motel is completely retro and fantastic.  Come to Tucumcari and stay at the Blue Swallow Motel!
